DRAG DRILL BIT are produced from forged high quality alloy steel and premium tungsten carbide insert, plus state of art welding technology and multiple precision heat treatment to provide highest penetration rate and longest lifespan at roughest condition.
Drag bits also named blade bits, with a TC inserts on the blades.They are usually designed for use in soft formations such as sand, clay, or some soft rock.Their uses include drilling water wells, mining, geothermal, environmental and exploration drilling.Whenever possible, they should be used to drill pilot holes, for they produce cuttings that are easiest to log.
AVAILABLE BITS
Drag bits diameters: 3 1/2” ~ 26”;
Connection threads: N-Rod, AW, 2 3/8’’ API Reg, 2 7/8’’ API Reg, 3 1/2’’ API Reg, 4 1/2’’ API Reg, 6 5/8’’ API Reg, 2 7/8’’ API IF, etc. Wings: 3-6 wings
DRAG BIT TWO TYPES
Step Type Bit: One of the most common type of drag bits used in the drilling industry; primary uses include soft to medium unconsolidated formations.
Chevron Type Bit: These are often used for medium to hard formations. They are often used to drill out concrete casings and plugs in the oilfield, and for harder formations containing larger amounts of rock. There are 3 way and 4 way Chevron bits designed for all types of drilling.
ADVANTAGES
Other than PDC bits, drag drilling bits have the lowest cost per bit. Drilling drag bits are a rotary drill bit built with a steel body and tungsten carbide teeth. These bits will out preform other more expensive bits if used appropriately. Drilling drag bits are extremely popular choice for seismic drilling, blast hole drilling and geothermal drilling applications. For best results adjust the rotational speed to 50% less than what you would normally use for a tricone bit of the same size and reduce the weight on bit by the same amount.
